The third trick I use almost every day is searching my inbox to find a specific email using Google’s Gmail search operators. In this menu, click on “Create event” and follow the directions below. Begin by opening up the email and clicking on the three small dots at the top of the inbox (some call this the “skinny snowman”). I like to do this within the email, as opposed to copying and pasting the text into my Google calendar, and it’s pretty simple. If your shortcut keys do not work, make sure you go up to the sprocket gear and select settings. Just press the following keys (they not case-sensitive) to toggle between the different views. The Google Calendar makes it super easy to toggle between calendar views. How to Change Calendar Views with Keyboard Shortcuts If the first option doesn’t work for them, they can try another one. Have them try one option out for a couple of weeks. I would leave it open for students to choose their own view based on what works best for them. As a teacher, I would share what option works for you and give reasons. To change your default custom view, scroll down to View Options and find the second grey box labeled, “Set custom view.” The default custom view is 4 days, but you have options to change this to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 days, and 2, 3, or 4 weeks.
